Service Learning:Week 6

Today on my first day back(haraay i get to really get back to work)it went well we talked about the next time we was going to do the ice cream fundraiser which will be Wednesday.We all took roles again on what to bring and who is working on what I am responsible for bringing some ice cream.We also came up with this idea of when someone buys a ice cream they can write a little friendly message on the card so we all decorated cards and we will have them down stairs on the day of the fundraiser.I think again this week was a successful week and it feel goods to be back in my group meeting and getting back to work to accomplish the goals.

Service Learning:Week 5

For service learning this week I wasn't here but I heard my group held a fundraiser which they sold ice cream it was a big sucess they made 100 dollars(haraay for us).I think that our group is doing great with the time that we have and I feel as if we going to get alot done.I heard that we people was rushing to get the ice cream and I think that is great and we are getting alot done.

Service Learning:Week Six Planning

This week for service learning I think we should:

-Go over what other things we gonna do to raise money other than selling the ice cream

-Research more on C.H.O.P

I think we should first come up with another drive we can do other than selling ice cream maybe we can do a candy drive and sell candy or sodas.I think we should also research more on C.H.O.P because we can never do too much research.

1.How would you identify Lennie and George?

A:I would say that Lennie is a person who is not so bright mentally but somehow is smart physically. George is the other way around he is smart knows his way around but physically he doesn't have as much talent as Lennie far as work wise.Lennie do get guided by George and depend on George but I feel as if George needs Lennie two because together they make a good team and I feel as if it wasn't for the way that Lennie works George wouldn't have ever got the job.

2.How would you compare candy and George?

A:I would say that candy and George are a little alike but I feel as if candy had more of a heart then George.I think when candy dog was killed by someone else George kind of felt for candy and what was done to him because that dog was a big part of candy life.When George and candy sat down and had that talk about why candy should come with them candy stated"You saw what they did to my dog they killed him I should have shot him myself I shouldn't let them do it".I think that's when the compatibility set in and George begin to feel for people and learned how to have a heart. I think he took it into consideration and even though it wasn't right but that's why I think he shot Lennie because of the talk with candy.

3.Demonstrate a similar topic in which relate to candy and candy dog

A: I think a similar topic to that is a sick relatives and there families.Sometimes when people are really sick and can't do anything for they self and the doctor feel as if they useless then the doctor inform the family to pull the plug to let them die.Some family feel as if let them go on they own and other families feel as if okay lets pull it this person has suffered too long.I think this relates to candy and his dog Carlson and slim was like the doctor and candy was like a relative he was saying no let him go on his own and then he tried to ease them into tomorrow with saying wait to tomorrow. Everyone know that is the number one thing a people say when they don't want to let something go then that tomorrow becomes the next day and so on.On the other hand Carlson and slim were not having it and they felt as if he has to go now and candy made a choice and he cried after which relates back to family member who cry and feel guilty.

4.If you was candy how would you solve the conflict with his dog?

A: I would not have let them kill my dog I would have told them no.I think that they should not have killed his dog I felt as if when they killed his dog they killed apart of him also it made him miserable that dog was his friend and now he was lonely.I would have solve this problem by saying no and if they would have said yes we is going to kill your dog I would have left and that would have been it the boss would have had one last man who was working for him and I would have still had my dog.

5. Organize some characters from the book into categories.

Mean and careless:

Curly-(Thinks he can fight,picks on people,and brags about what he do to his wife.)

Carlson-(didn't care about candy feelings just wanted candy dog out of the cabin.)

Good person and never mean no harm:

1.Lennie-(loves animal but don't mean any harm by killing them he just loves to pet them,don't like to fight did want to fight curly George just told him too.)

2.Candy-(people person welcome George and Lennie in from the start.)

6.Choose who you think changed the most through the book.

A:Believe it or not but I think George changed the most through the book.I feel as if in the beginning of the book George really didn't want Lennie with him but then he just grew into Lennie being around him.I think Lennie really taught George some good responsibilities because he really handle Lennie well and I think it really hurt him at the end when he killed Lennie.

7.Create a receipt to make Lennie

First you put a pinch of smartness then put in a half of cup of strongness stir it for five seconds.After stirring it put in 1/5 of a cup of animal love then finally put in a half of cup of a great worker then shake it up wait ten minutes and you got yourself a Lennie.

8.What question would you ask george after killing lennie?

Answer:I would ask george did the pep talk he had with candy really make him shoot lennie.I think george killed lennie because he felt it was better for him to take george out instead of someone else.i think when candy talked to george about them killing his dog and he related to back when they killed his dog he said I should have killed my own dog I should not have let them do it so I think we they were looking for lennie to kill him george tried to find him as fast as he can to do it hiself because he did want to regret of someone else killing him.I would still ask him because maybe he thought diffrent.

9.Design how you think the house look that lennie,george,and candy is dying to get too?

Answer:I would say that it would be more of a nice comfortable living space I wouldn't say it would be a mansion and that they are living like they are rich.I say that they would live better then they did before.I think that it would be a little close to a house figure but not quite there and also it would have land for them to work on and make a living but at they own pase and people not telling them what to do.

10.List 3 characters from the book and tell about them?

1.Candy-Candy was pretty much a laid back man kind of like myself and he also seem like a caregiving and heartful person.

2.Curly Wife-Curly wife was acting digusting and carrying herself in the wrongly way but she still was a nice person she was just looking for a friend but I just didn't like the way she carried herself.

3.Lennie-Lennie was not like the other guys far as brain wise but he was gooder than them far as physically wise.Lennie was a good person but his small thinking caught up with his harmless ways.

Plans for week 5 service learning

This week for service learning I think that we should:

-Start planning a drive to do
-Start to make flyer's to let people know
-Try to talk more with C.H.O.P

I think we should do these three things on this week service learning.I think we should start planning the drive that we is going to do so that we can get to the next group that we want to do and not wait to the last moment and try to get a second thing done.I think we should start making flyer's so people can know and try to talk to C.H.O.P more so that we can make up steady date and arrangements to come and meet and give out the gift to the children.

My Feeling So Far On Service Learning

Every year for service learning kids in constitution high school come up with ideas to do for service learning. As me being a fellow student of constitution high school I volunteered my service for the two years that I been here. The first year my freshman year I signed up for a group that was already made which was the elementary school tutoring which was pretty good for our first year. This year for service learning me and three other friends had an idea in mind then we made it as a school-wide service learning group which I think is doing good two. In this essay I will talk about what was successful, what challenges or problems did I encounter, what have I learned so far, what needs to be worked on for the coming weeks, and what should be changed for next year.
First I am going to talk about what was our success would first like to say that we are doing very well from the way it was before. We started we was not agreeing on anything and it was very disorderly. I think that we have been a success ever since the first meeting, which we just talked about the basic. I think that the part that we play in our group is a success because everyone in the group is very consistence and want to do what they have to do to give back and make the community a better place. I think that our group is very successful at communicating with C.H.O.P, which is one of the places we are going to be going. The last thing that I think is successful is our togetherness I know people probably say well that does not matter but in order to get things done you have to be comfortable. I think that we all get together good and we all striving to make one thing come true and that giving back.
The challenges and problems that we encountered, I would say that every time when you do plan some thing it is always a problem if it’s not one thing it is another. When we first picked the group it was a little problem with not doing it as a service learning school-wide thing but doing it as a club which we all came to an agreement of just doing it as a school-wide and then next year trying to get it as a club. I would say another reason is we might not have time to do both C.H.O.P and the homeless shelter, which our group wants to do both so that we can help out two places that really need help. I think one of them are going to get cut short based on the time we have and I ‘m guessing it’s going to be the homeless shelter because we is working on C.H.O.P first then we going to jump right into the homeless shelter I hope we can get both of them done because both of them can really benefit.
I think for the coming week we should get more organize on what how we is going to distributed it such as if we is going to hand it out there or just send it over, I also feel as if we should already be passing out flyer's and starting a drive so that we can get one over with so we can have time for the next. Other than that I think we should cover that for the coming weeks so we won’t be doing last minute things and be rushing than it will look like we doing last minute work which it shouldn't’t be because the way we is going now I think we are well prepared but I think in the coming week we should prepare for the drive that we is going to do and start making flyer's to let people know.Next year for this service learning group I think it should start sooner so that you can get as many groups as you want done also I would say to get to work ahead of time done wait to the last minute.

Service Learning Reflection:Fourth Meeting

On last week service learning I was not here but I did ask what happened at the meeting.I was told that they was taking roles and planning for the fundraiser they was going to do.I was also told that this week meeting was anoither sucess and people really steped up and played they parts I hope next week fundraiser go well.Considering that it is hot I think we will sell alot of ice cream and be able to give some stuff to the kids in C.H.O.P.
