Service Learning;Third Meeting

On Friday(4/25) I was not here so I missed the meeting.When I came in on Monday I asked a member in my group what they did and she told me they went over ways to raise money for the charity that we was going to do.I was also told they went over role that everyone is going to play in the group also my group went over the questions that was giving to us to look up for C.H.O.P. My group also went over information that was sent to them from C.H.O.P which we have been waiting on. Overall I was told that it went really good and that our group is really starting to try to get things accomplished.

Service Learning Reflection:Second meeting

On Thursday we all picked up where we left off on Friday.First we came to an agreement and picked the two things out of the three we wanted to do.After that we all discussed our idea of picking one topic to do first then if we have time do the other.It took a while because some people wanted to do two things at once which we couldn't do because it was going to be to much.Then all of us came to a responsible agreement which was to do C.H.O.P first and then do the homeless shelter.We all went to the C.H.O.P website and we saw this sad story of a little girl who was battling leukemia which made everyone want to help out more.That was it for that meeting for the next meeting Ms. Madhi gave us all some questions to look up to bring to the next meeting.

The Empire Of The Son Review

In English class when Mr. Romero first introduced us to the movie I thought it was just going to be a boring movie that was going to put me to sleep but I really misjudged it. When the movie first came on it was a little boring but then it got interesting the character Jamie who later down get named Jim is a very interesting character. First Jamie start off as a little rich brat who always get what he wants but then when he let his mother hand go during the time of a world little rich Jamie have to learn how to survive in the real world and not things being given to him on a silver platter as he gets it usually. Through the story Jamie faces a lot of challenges as a little boy he meets a new friend well suppose to be friend name Basie who he later finds out is all for himself. Later on down the line Jim started to learn the routine and techniques and start to base himself well with the environment he was in. Jamie was a little boy at the beginning but became a man for the four years that he had been in the camp. Jamie character was one of the best to me no he was the best character and I really think that he really proved himself to everyone that he is not just a little rich kid who depends on everything. Overall I loved this movie and it also taught me a lesson never to misjudge anyone because of they background.

I looked at the website above and the three things I got from this website that we can learned from was:

1.Wish list that some kids wish they can have.
2.Events that we can go to and see the kids and hang out with them
3.Events we can get involved with not only for school-wide but for our independent hours too.

Service Learning:First Meeting

On Friday when we all got together me and my group pretty much did the basic.First we read over a paper explaining what service learning is then we all answered the questions.Secondly we all came to a agreement that we were going to do two things not one then we all put ideas on the board and we voted on the top three we wanted to do.After that we discuss all that we can do to give back to the ideas that we planned to do. Overall I think we did a pretty good job considering it was only our first meeting and I think that our group would be a success with the people in the group. The three that we narrowed it down to was the Animal Shelter,Homeless Shelter,and CHOP. For the next meeting we should all be talking about the research we have to do to find out what certain places need that we can donate to and also breaking people in the group down with a job so that each person who have a different job and we can get the work done.

Independent Hours Suggestions

This year for my independent service learning I have these five things  in mind:

1.  Volunteering at Elementary School

2. Helping with the elderly

3. Volunteering at community daycare.

4. Volunteering at community recreation centers

5. Volunteering at community stores.

Service Learning

This year for service learning I think we should give back to the community like gathering cloths for the homeless or serving food or we can gather toys for kids in the hospital and give it to them.For this year in service learning me,Felicia,Christa and Renee wanted to start a school club for giving back to the community like shelter and hospitals where kids are sick. We would go around collecting stuff like toys,clothing,bedding and other things that people will need. I am now in the process of calling community shelters and hospitals such as Temple and saint Joseph or children hospital. I think this will be such a success i have one hundred percent positive feelings about this program and not only for service learning but it will carry out for the rest of the year that how much i think this idea will be a success.We is doing it as a school-wide competition so that everyone in the school can have a chance to give back to the community.For my independent service learning I am volunteering at a elementary school for my fifth teen hours.I am going to go to the school and help out with the lower grades and maybe help out at a Library around my way.
